The American Assembly, affiliated with Columbia Univ., convened meetings on the U.S. and Africa (1958), Africa and U.S. National Interests (1997). World Economic Forum

The Forum, composed of 1,000 "foremost global companies in the world" and the "foremost entrepreneurial companies in the world" holds an annual summit and regional summits. Competitiveness Profiles, Summaries of Africa-related sessions. The Africa Economic Summit 2003 met in Durban, South Africa, 11-13 June with business and political leaders focused on the private sector's role in implementing the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD).
